Towards ethical and responsible AI

La vision de GoodAlgo d'une IA de confiance
GoodAlgo’s vision of trustworthy AI
Artificial Intelligence is becoming crucial to addressing many of the major challenges facing humanity, such as climate change, global health and well-being, the conservation of natural resources, and reliable and sustainable legal and democratic systems. This technology is revolutionising the way we live, consume, operate and work. This is the beginning of a revolution or a new era of change and silent but very real disruption that is happening right before our eyes.
In this context, it is essential that algorithmic systems and intelligent applications are ethical, eco-responsible, inclusive and trustworthy, from their design to their use and monitoring over time (see Ethics by Evolution), as responsibility lies with designers, owners and users alike. As the French Renaissance humanist writer François Rabelais so aptly put it: « Algorithms without conscience are nothing but the foretold ruin of our society.»
Ultimately, ethics applied to AI fully concerns the future of the human species, our freedom of determination, judgement, free will, and the human condition, both individually and collectively.
Our Labels for Trustworthy AI
The first labels focusing on the ethics of an entire digital project and enabling the ethical commitment of Artificial Intelligence algorithms to be assessed (Reliability, Interpretability, Quality and Robustness, Social Discrimination, etc.).
Towards a European regulatory framework
In its press release of 21 April 2021, the European Union presented its future regulation on trustworthy AI (Artificial Intelligence Act), which reconciles the protection of individuals, legal certainty and innovation. The new rules will apply in all Member States. Based on risk, potentially dangerous applications (risk of impact on private or professional life) will be subject to strict rules.
The Manifesto
The great promises offered by AI must be matched by great human responsibility! It is based on this conviction that GoodAlgo felt the need to draft this manifesto for Ethical and Responsible AI, consisting of 10 major principles, each associated with a strong commitment. This document is intended for all stakeholders (organisations, territories, etc. and citizens) involved in the development, deployment, use or support of AI. We invite each of them to sign this manifesto in order to build a genuine community around trustworthy AI.
The foundations of our manifesto
GoodAlgo has developed this manifesto using a neo-Darwinian approach based on the concept of Ethics by Evolution and the 44 associated ethical criteria and recommendations. The aim is to structure a moral framework for digital AI projects by observing a number of requirements, recommendations and rules that are developed, verified and discussed at each stage of design, implementation, use and monitoring. This document should be considered as the foundation of an initial ethical framework applied to digital technology, which is likely to evolve over time, so that AI remains trustworthy.
Start your self-evaluation of ethical and responsible AI
GoodAlgo gives you the opportunity to assess your digital project involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) for free in just a few minutes by screening the various criteria and parameters involved throughout its life cycle. The aim of this process is to determine whether your intelligent digital application is likely to comply with the broad outlines of the forthcoming European regulation on trustworthy AI.
By undertaking this ethical self-assessment of your AI, you are confirming your commitment to the ‘Ethics by Evolution’ approach to digital technology that GoodAlgo has initiated and developed; in other words, an ethical framework to give meaning, security, transparency and trust to intelligent digital applications in society. To take the ethical evaluation with the aim of obtaining certification, simply register to start the free self-evaluation.
