GoodAlgo's vision

GoodAlgo's vision of trustworthy AI

Artificial Intelligence is becoming decisive in addressing many of the great challenges facing humanity, such as climate change, global health and well-being, the sustainable use of natural resources, and reliable and lasting legal and democratic frameworks. This technology is transforming our ways of living, consuming, operating, and working. It marks the beginning of a silent yet very real revolution — a new era of change and disruption unfolding before our eyes.

In this context, it is essential that algorithmic systems and intelligent applications be ethical, eco-responsible, inclusive, and trustworthy, from design through to use and ongoing monitoring over time (cf. Ethics by Evolution), given that responsibility belongs equally to designers, owners, and users alike. As the French humanist writer of the Renaissance, François Rabelais, might have so aptly put it: "algorithms without conscience are nothing but the foretold ruin of our society".

Ultimately, ethics applied to AI is fully concerned with the future of the human species, our freedom of self-determination, judgement, free will, and the human condition — both individual and collective.

European regulatory framework

Towards a European regulatory framework

In its press release of 21 April 2021, the European Union presented its future regulation on trustworthy AI (Artificial Intelligence Act), reconciling the protection of individuals, legal certainty, and innovation. The new rules will apply across all member states. Risk-based in approach, potentially dangerous applications (with risk of impact on private or professional life) will be subject to strict rules.

The Manifesto

The Manifesto

The great promises of AI must be met with great human responsibility! It is from this conviction that GoodAlgo felt the need to write this manifesto for Ethical and Responsible AI, comprising 10 major principles each paired with a strong commitment. This document is addressed to all stakeholders (organisations, territories, … and citizens) involved in the development, deployment, use, or support of AI. We invite each of them to sign this manifesto in order to form a genuine community around trustworthy AI.

Foundations of the manifesto

The foundations of our manifesto

GoodAlgo developed this manifesto drawing on a neo-Darwinian approach based on the concept of Ethics by Evolution and 44 associated ethical criteria and recommendations. The objective is to structure a moral framework accompanying digital AI projects by observing a number of requirements, recommendations, and rules developed, verified, and discussed at each stage of design, implementation, use, and monitoring. This document should be considered as the foundation of an initial ethical structure applied to the digital world, one that will evolve over time, so that AI always remains trustworthy.

Start your self-assessment of ethical and responsible AI

GoodAlgo gives you the opportunity to freely assess your digital project incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in just a few minutes, scrutinising the various criteria and parameters involved throughout its entire lifecycle. The goal of this process is to determine whether your intelligent digital application is likely to be in line with the broad principles of the upcoming European regulation on trustworthy AI.

By engaging in this ethical self-assessment of your AI, you confirm your commitment to the "Ethics by Evolution" approach to the digital world that GoodAlgo has initiated and developed — in other words, an ethical framework designed to bring meaning, security, transparency, and trust to intelligent digital applications within society. To take on the ethical assessment with the aim of achieving it, simply register to start the free self-assessment.
